Foundation

25-5-15

Site inspection today to measure pier holes, came to about 112 lineal meters. 90 l/m was allowed for in the contract so I'll be expecting around 1000 in additional costs already.

Personally, I think they've gone overboard with the pier depths, many were over 2m deep. The pier depths varied considerably from 1.6m to the deepest at 2.7m, they aimed to get a white clay bearing (which is good). However in my experience all you really need is 1.5m in red clay for a single storey brick veneer house to get out of the soil suction zone. Anyway, can't do much about it, at least its not the other way around.

Also got an idea of the house level. The ground I was standing on is pretty much underside of waffle pod level. So if you add another 400mm on top, you will be at finished floor level since they will use 300 pods with 100mm concrete over. Looks too high by my reckoning.

Dirt

16-5-15

We have security fencing around the site, fill for under the slab and gravel which I believe is for backfilling the drainage trenches.

Looks like the neighbors uphill are a few weeks/months ahead of us.

I will start counting the  four months from now.
